This lumbering, two-legged droid is the latest creation from Alphabet’s robotics projects

Finding a way for robots to mimic, or even improve upon human movement is no easy task – which is why most use wheels, tracks or some other workaround that doesn’t require a highly complex task like walking.

While the two-limbed robot unveiled by Alphabet-owned Schaft today may not look too impressive, it’s one hell of a feat of engineering.

The unnamed (aww) robot can climb stairs, carry payloads of up to 60KG and keep its balance. Given the deliberately space-saving design, it does look like any load would need to fit on the top of the robot.

Or, you could just use it for doing a spot of household chores as they do in the video above – like vacuuming stairs with its ‘feet.’

Weird.
