San Francisco to host online cat video festival, because of course

San Francisco to host online cat video festival, because of course

The internet isn’t really the internet without cats. Even though, as a species, they generally hate us and want to be left alone, they’ve become the unwitting and consistently successful stars of all corners of the Web, from message boards to GIFs to social media sites. If the internet couldn’t have cats, I happen to think it would be a lot less fun.

Which is why it’s not surprising that there would be an “an offline celebration of online cat videos,” the Internet Cat Video Festival. Happening for three glorious days at the end of January in San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the festival will show more than 100 videos. The curated selection will be of varying lengths — from Vines to Youtube clips and even longer documentaries — so there will be plenty of cat media to go around.

If you’re in the area and can’t stay away from those furry feline viral stars, then a ticket will run you about $10.

H/T to Product Hunt’s Ryan Hoover for alerting me to this beauty.
