This map reveals how the price of Spotify Premium differs around the world

If you emigrate to another country, it often takes a while to get used to their economy. You have to appreciate the cost of living, how much people are usually paid, the country’s financial state, and so forth.

In particular, Matias Singer noticed how the price of a Spotify Premium subscription had changed when he moved from Denmark to Malaysia. Intrigued, he developed an interactive map which shows the local price of the music service, from across the world, converted into US dollars.

It’s fascinating to see how Spotify’s pricing structure fluctuates around the globe, and also where the service represents the best value against the US dollar. Malaysia ($4.59), Argentina ($4.50) and the Philippines ($2.91) rank highest, while Denmark ($18.46), the UK ($16.97) and Norway ($16.70) come in at the bottom of the site’s converted price index.

If you want to check Singers’ methodology, he’s detailed the project here and uploaded the underlying ‘Spotify Crawler’ to GitHib for closer examination.
