It’s not often just anyone is allowed to parachute onto the Statue of Liberty, but with Map Dive you can control a yellow avatar named Pegman as he free-falls onto landmarks across the world, passing through hoops and collecting stars for points. Built using the Google Maps API by design team Instrument, the game was originally conceived as a full-body motion control tech demo for Google I/O, but is now available to play for anyone with a WebGL-enabled browser.
So. Much. Tech.
Some of the biggest names in tech are coming to TNW Conference in Amsterdam this May.
If you’re interested in the code behind it, check out the “Technology” link on the game’s page to find out more about how it was built. Even better, the code is open source and readable on GitHub too, should you want to give customizing your own skydiving game a shot.
Most of us will be content with just playing, however. How high can you score?
