I want to spend the rest of my day playing with Coca Cola’s sticky hand toy

I want to spend the rest of my day playing with Coca Cola’s sticky hand toy

As I wrote this past Thursday, everybody needs a quick break every once and a while, which is exactly why we have our Sharables channel. So, to gift you some Friday cheer on this rather mellow hump day, I’m delighted to let you in on what I’ve been doing for the past 45 minutes: playing with this Coca Cola sticky hand toy.

If Adobe Flash has ever served a better purpose, I can’t think of it at the moment. This toy is like digital bubble wrap — may the rest of my day RIP.

On a more serious note, Adobe has lately been embracing open standards with Edge for animation (eventually in lieu of Flash), and it honestly looks quite promising. The best part though, for me at least, is the fact that this new app doesn’t embrace any single standard on its own. This means that as technology evolves and emerges, Edge is poised to adapt and continue being the best rich media and animation tool. Kudos to Adobe for adapting.

On that point, as much as I publicly dislike Flash, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript still have their limitations. There’s a reason why YouTube still hasn’t fully pulled the plug. Also, in terms of interactivity, it would be very difficult to recreate this sticky hand site at all with anything else.

If you share our love of anti-lifehacking time wasters like this Coca Cola mini site, definitely leave your favorites in the comments below!
