The designers and technologists at Obscura Digital, a creative agency that delivers groundbreaking interactive experiences, have decided to make the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the Al Jahili Fort their canvas, and the results will blow you away.
In case you’re not familiar, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is an absolutely beautiful piece of architecture located in the United Arab Emirates. It’s certainly a testament to great design, deserving attention by anyone passionate about design.
Using 44 projectors with a combined brightness of 840,000 lumens, a new reality of fairytale proportions is created. On a massive scale (the projected area covers a surface 600ft wide x 351ft high), it’s hard to imagine what it would be like to witness this project in person, but the video certainly captures enough to knock us off our seats.
This initiative is in celebration of UAE National Day 2011, and is only one of many projected creations by Obscura Digital. You’ll also want to take a look at what the team did at the Westfield San Francisco Centre, and the YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2011.
