Trend Alert? Girl With Cancer Asks Joseph Gordon-Levitt For a Date on YouTube

Trend Alert? Girl With Cancer Asks Joseph Gordon-Levitt For a Date on YouTube

You probably haven’t heard of Lindsey Anne Miller yet, but a video she just posted on YouTube has the potential to go viral. The 26 year old American, who has cancer, has used the video sharing site as a very public way of asking 50/50 star Joseph Gordon-Levitt out on a date.

Miller tells him in the video:

“Even though I look healthy, dating has been a little difficult, because I’m not sure how to explain what I’ve been going through, but after a year of living with this, Ive decided to get back on the dating scene and I’d like my first date to be with you.”

It has to be said, Miller’s video is by no means an original idea. In fact, could this trend be a new Internet meme in the making? US Marine Corporal Kelsey de Santis asked Justin Timberlake to be her date at a Marine Corps Ball, and Mila Kunis was asked out by Marine Sergeant Scott Moore to a similar affair. It only remains to be seen if, like Kunis and Timberlake, Levitt actually says yes.

We’ve all seen how easy social media sites like Twitter and Facebook make it for fans and celebrities to connect, although that isn’t always necessarily a good thing, as Ashton Kutcher recently learned. But could Miller and her predecessors be on to a brand new way, and much more direct, method of communication?
