Nokia’s CEO is so relaxed about selling its Here maps business that it might not happen

There’s been lots of talk about who’ll buy Nokia’s Here mapping unit, including chatter around a $3 billion bid from Uber and interest from Facebook, but it seems the company is in no hurry to sell.

In an interview with European Communications, an industry trade magazine, Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri says that while there has been “significant interest” with quality bids, it still may not sell:

Let’s give it more time… We may not end up selling it if we don’t get the right value…It has to be a good competitive deal for Nokia and our shareholders.

Of course, as European Communications speculates, that could just be a tactic to stimulate the bidding. It isn’t clear how Here fits with the rest of the new Nokia’s strategy, even if it’s still toying with hardware.

Exclusive: I’ve learned the lessons and we’re going to do this my way, says Nokia CEO [European Communications via Reuters]
