OnePlus One smartphone owners can now download the Lollipop-based OxygenOS

OnePlus One smartphone owners can now download the Lollipop-based OxygenOS

It’s been a little while coming, but OnePlus One smartphone owners can start getting to grips with the company’s first custom operating system called OxygenOS.

Originally slated to arrive before the end of March, the release slipped behind schedule due to last minute quality control, but it seems it didn’t miss its intended window by much.

The Android Lollipop-based fork will allow OnePlus to “provide faster, more meaningful updates and a better-integrated range of services for every OnePlus user,” the company says in a blog post.

It added that the current feature set offers mostly subtle tweaks, but that the company was only focusing on delivering features that are truly required. Right now, custom changes include an improved file manager, screen gestures and quick settings.

“We place things like performance and battery life over gimmicks and bloated features,” it says.

If you’ve got a OnePlus One handset, you can head on over to the download page to get started with the new OS right now
