UK mobile operator Three’s new Wi-Fi hub brings mobile dongle data into the home

UK mobile operator Three has announced it will add a new mobile broadband hub to its product portfolio, allowing its customers that already utilise the carrier’s mobile data dongles to turn them into Wi-Fi hotspots and share their 3G connections at home.

The ZTE MF10 Dongle Adapter works exactly like Three’s existing MiFi devices but differs in where it is used. Where the MiFi can generate a mobile Wi-Fi connection wherever there is signal, the dongle connects to the hub in an office or the home, potentially replacing a home broadband connection – if it’s particularly poor compared to the mobile signal.

The Mobile Broadband Hub allows five devices to be connected at a time, also shipping with an Ethernet socket which can potentially turn the device into a router for the mobile connection.

Three says its Wi-Fi hub will work with almost all of its USB dongles, helping to bring HSPA+ data speeds into homes. The company is well known for its monthly and prepaid unlimited data plans, which has helped it become the UK’s fastest growing operator.
