HBO is reportedly launching its cable-free streaming service in April for $15 a month

If you’re a cord-cutter that likes ‘Game of Thrones’ you’re about to get really excited. International Business Times reports that HBO will be launching its stand-alone streaming service HBO Now in April for $15 a month.

IBT also reports that Apple will be a launch partner which should makes owners of the Apple TV very excited. The $15 monthly fee will be paid directly to HBO and is on par with what most pay-TV subscribers shell out to cable and satellite TV providers like Comcast.

HBO hasn’t confirmed a date or price, but launching before the premiere of one of its more popular shows would give the service an almost immediate subscriber boost.

With the recent launch of Sling TV, the era of paying for channels you don’t want is slowly coming to an end. But now, you have to determine if paying for these unbundled channels will actually save you money.
