The New York Times will launch a major redesign of its website on January 8, following a limited preview that is rolling out to a small number of users later today. It’s been a long time coming; the redesign for article pages were first teased in March last year, before a revamped homepage was tested with its writers a little over seven months later.
While the general look and feel of the site remains the same, the New York Times has made a number of changes to improve the reading experience. The site is now responsive, with faster page loading and larger, more impactful photos and videos throughout each piece.
The New York Times has more competition than ever before on the Web, but this latest revamp should prove that it’s still in touch and innovating from a design standpoint.
