Arabic link sharing and content aggregator Merqab goes live

Merqab (Arabic for monitor) is a blog aggregator and short URL service for Arabic content readers who have difficulty finding content online.

In its first phase of development, the website currently serves content based on user input and allows readers to rate the content with positive or negative feedback – somehow like a simplified version of digg.

In its next two phases, founder Mohammad Sahli plans to introduce algorithms that will analyze related articles that are read by users and recommend articles accordingly.

Arabic content aggregators are quite few, with the only notable other being Toot, so there’s definitely room for innovation and creativity in this field.

Merqab does need a bit of a visual cleanup, but in all cases, I highly suggest you give it a try.
