The Uruguay-based food delivery service PedidosYa has expanded into Colombia, the entrepreneurship organization Endeavor reports on its blog.

By doing so, the Endeavor company confirms its position among the growing number of Latin American startups with regional ambitions. In total, the portal is now operating in six territories across the region – its home country Uruguay, but also Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Puerto Rico and now Colombia, or more precisely, Bogota, where it has partnered with 40 restaurant brands.

Alongside its launch in Colombia, PedidosYa also introduced an Android app, in addition to its website and to the geo-located iPhone app it launched in December last year.

As you may remember, we had recently reported that the food delivery segment was heating up in Latin America – a fact that already caught the attention of high-profile investors. While PedidosYa was created in Montevideo in 2009 by three recent college graduates, it is now backed by Kaszek Ventures and by the London-based fund Atomico, which belongs to Skype’s co-founder Niklas Zennström.
