This solid Star Wars fan theory may tell us who Rey’s family really is

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was a stellar reboot to the series, but we don’t know much about Rey’s origins. A new fan theory suggests she’s actually a descendent of the dark side, and it makes a lot of sense.

Instead of being Luke Skywalker or Obi-wan Kenobi’s daughter, Ren is said to be the granddaughter of Senator Palpatine, who we know went on to become Emperor.

Some of the video above stretches just a bit, but overall it’s not a bad theory. The fighting style seems a bit of a giveaway, and the fact that Kylo Ren knows who she is (even though she’s not familiar with him) has always been curious.

Her position on the movie poster is also interesting, though I never considered it. Perhaps it’s an easter egg we need to keep an eye on for future posters, though.

There is a lot to the theory, but it’s pretty well thought out. Check the video out for more.
