Chrome experiment PixelSynth translates your images into (really bad) music

Chrome experiment PixelSynth translates your images into (really bad) music

PixelSynth, a new Chrome Experiment written in Javascript, allows you to choose from a library of pre-selected images — or upload your own — to create your own ‘music.’

I use the term music lightly — my creations sounded like I was taking part in a torture experiment — but the concept of making music with nothing more than images is still pretty cool.

To get started you simply need to choose an image (or upload one), and start experimenting. There are knobs for brightness and contrast — both of which alter the image and the music — as well as drop down menus that allow you to adjust the scale, key and speed.

All-in-all, it’s really an experiment, and as such you shouldn’t really be expecting to create good music out of this, but turning an image into a sound is still pretty cool.
