Withings’ new Go fitness tracker does more than count your steps

Withings’ new Go fitness tracker does more than count your steps

As fitness trackers go, clip-ons remain a bit niche. Withings new Go — with an eInk display — may change that.

For £49 (roughly $75), Go will track your steps, distance traveled, running or swimming stats, and has sleep tracking features.

The eInk screen is touch capacitive, and is split into 88 graphical segments that can be changed depending on your current activity. All data is shown as a dial, which details a completion percentage for your activity.

Go also recognizes what activity you’re doing, and tracks your metrics accordingly. If you’re running or walking, it tracks your steps, distance covered, duration and calories burned. Water resistant to 5 meters, Go monitors how long you swim and how many calories you’ve burned.

For sleep tracking, Withings says Go can distinguish between light and deep sleep cycles, but doesn’t say how it’s accomplishing as much.

Go links to Withings’ existing Health Mate app, available for both iOS and Android. The company doesn’t give a target date for Go’s launch, but does say it’ll be available in Q1 2016.
