Peace out: Marco Arment pulls iOS ad blocker from App Store after just 2 days

Peace out: Marco Arment pulls iOS ad blocker from App Store after just 2 days

In a surprising turn of events, ad blocker Peace has been pulled from the App Store. It has been the number one paid app since iOS 9 came out.

Developed by Marco Arment (an excellent developer who also makes podcast app Overcast), Peace did what all ad blockers do — it blocks ads. In a strange way, that’s what turned Arment off:

Peace required that all ads be treated the same — all-or-nothing enforcement for decisions that aren’t black and white. This approach is too blunt.

Those who have purchased Peace can request a refund. It’s strange to see a wildly popular app pulled from the App Store, but it’s nice to know that whether you agree with him or not — Arment has a conscience. I appreciate that.

Just doesn’t feel good [Marco Arment]
