Microsoft celebrates Windows 95 anniversary with free ‘Start Me Up’ download

Windows 95 hit the scene 20 years ago today, launched on-stage to ‘Start Me up’ by The Rolling Stones. To celebrate one of the better Windows releases ever, Microsoft is gifting the world with a free download of the song.

While the Stones have aged gracefully (just kidding, they’re all train-wrecks except for Charlie), the video below takes us back to a time of pleated Dad-jeans and Balmer dancing on stage. It was pure hell.

While we all reminisce about CD ROMs and queueing up like goons outside of stores (wait, Apple fans still do that — my bad), at least we can do so to one of the best rock songs of all time — free!

But, now I wonder why Microsoft didn’t name ‘CortanaAngie. That’s really cold.
