Silk Road creator Ross Ulbricht has filed appeal against conviction

Silk Road creator Ross Ulbricht has filed appeal against conviction

Ross Ulbricht, the man convicted of running Silk Road, has made an appeal against his conviction and jail sentence.

Motherboard first posted the notice to the Second Circuit court of appeals which was filed on Thursday.

Ulbricht was found guilty by a jury in a federal court in Manhattan in February on seven counts related to the drug marketplace including computer hacking, money laundering and running a drugs-trafficking enterprise.

Despite pleading with the judge to ‘give him his old age’ and “leave a light at the end of the tunnel,” he was landed with two life sentences as well as separate sentences for 20 years, 5 years and 15 years respectively, with no possibility of parole.

One of the major factors in his appeal will undoubtedly be that two of the investigating FBI officers from the Silk Road case are actually being charged with money laundering and corruption themselves.
