While the pleas to free Barrett Brown filled Twitter and other social media over the past two years, the courts had other ideas.
Today Brown was sentenced to five years, three months in prison for obstruction of justice, aiding-and-abetting and threats made against an FBI agent. The charges stem from the 2011 Stratfor hack. Brown did not partake in the hack, instead he copy and pasted a link to the pilfered data from one chatroom to another.
The data included email addresses and credit card numbers.
