Snapchat is celebrating New Year’s with a compilation of your snaps in Times Square

As Snapchat looks to strengthen its advertising chops and expand its audience, it’s been trying a few different methods of reaching out to users and businesses. According The New York Times, the company newest effort will take place on New Year’s Eve with a compilation of its user’s snaps.

Snapchat reportedly will have a team of curators selecting photos and videos from users at celebrations in Dubai, New York City, St. Petersburg (Russia) and other places around the world. The users must give permission before Snapchat can use their content though. Anybody will then be able to see the compilation in the livestreaming part of the app.

Additionally, Snapchat will be showing its montage at screens in Times Square, which should definitely help the app gain some additional recognition. And in the app’s typical ephemeral fashion, the entire story will disappear after 24 hours.
