The US government suspects a new leaker has emerged after Snowden

US government officials have revealed to CNN that they’re operating under the assumption that a new whistleblower has started leaking national security documents, following in the footsteps of Edward Snowden.

The metaphorical smoking gun, in this case, is The Intercept’s report on a US database of terrorist suspects. Since documents from that report are dated after Snowden left the US, it’s reasonable to assume that a new leaker is involved.

The government has had a tough time figuring out which documents Snowden took with him, so adding another source to the mix should keep officials busy. Hopefully, they’ll be too busy trying to track down the new leaker to spy on us.
