Orange Fab names the 7 startups participating in the US accelerator program’s second class

Startup accelerator Orange Fab has announced the seven startups that will be participating in its second class. Founded by mobile network operator Orange, this program helps US-based companies create and develop new and useful products that foster communication between people.

The seven startups will have their teams flown to Orange’s headquarters in Paris to attend the first of its two Demo Days before embarking on a 12-week program filled with mentoring sessions and time to work on their products. In return for their participation, Orange Fab is giving each company an option to receive $20,000 in funding and office space in its Silicon Valley location.

Here are the companies that make up Orange Fab’s second class:

  • 1-Page: A gamified recruiting platform for individuals and the enterprise
  • Flamestower: A startup specializing in creating personal and sustainable energy products and brands
  • Chronos: This company describes itself as “the full-stack for passively-collected personal data” but appears to be a service that lets you better understand how you spend your time and make you more productive.
  • 2600hz: A cloud service designed to power voice, mobile, and video apps.
  • Fiverun: Aiming to disrupt the in-store checkout experience, the company brings the online shopping experience to the retail store.
  • Angaza: Provider of afforable “pay-as-you-go” solar energy for the off-grid world.
  • Videopixie: A marketplace for video production services.

Orange Fab launched its US accelerator program in March 2012, but has similar initiatives beginning this year, specifically in France, Asia, Poland, and Israel.

The program has also shared some interesting statistics about its first class, saying that Phone Halo, a company that lets you keep track of lost objects through your phone, has shipped over 150,000 of its tracking devices and is exploring distribution deals in Europe. Additionally, Soil IQ, which specializes in helping farmers and gardeners produce organic fruits and vegetables, has raised $1.5 million in funding with plans to begin selling its products in Q2 2014. Lastly, Fenix International raised a $3.8 million Series B round and launched a solar program to help homes in Africa receive energy for as little as $0.39 per day.
