Kitesurfing and the sharing economy: What’s Loïc Le Meur been up to since selling Seesmic?

Loïc Le Meur needs little introduction. The French entrepreneur is the organizer of the popular LeWeb technology conference in London and Paris, and also founded Seesmic before selling it to HootSuite in September last year.

So what’s he been up to since then? Kitesurfing, of course. Speaking to TNW’s Paul Sawers, Le Meur explains all of his latest moves – we’re more than a little jealous – as well as what he’s been up to since the acquisition.

There’s also a few hints at what Le Meur might be moving onto next; his keynote presentation today focused on the ‘sharing economy’, or businesses which grant customers access to various goods and services without ever giving them full ownership.

“I really want something that I breathe, love and makes me passionate and excited,” he said. “So it’s not about the money. And I have Le Web! I am doing the program and I love it. It’s my baby.”

Stay tuned for Le Meur’s thoughts on why the sharing economy will be the next “huge movement” in the technology industry, as well how social networks such as Facebook are transforming us all into a society of far more trustworthy individuals.
