Verizon expands its Windows Phone lineup with the Samsung ATIV Odyssey and Nokia Lumia 822

Microsoft has announced that Verizon Wireless is adding two new Windows Phones to its lineup: Nokia’s Lumia 822 and Samsung’s ATIV Odyssey.

We knew the ATIV Odyssey would arrive shortly, and saw the device at this year’s CES. Now, Microsoft has shared that it will retail for $100 with a two year contract — just $50 if you count the mail-in rebate. On to the Odyssey’s specs, Microsoft says the device features “a 4-inch 800×480 Super AMOLED display, 5-megapixel rear camera with full 1080p recording and playback capability, 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and 2100mAh battery.”

As for Nokia’s Lumia 822, the device will be free with a two-year contract — an obvious attempt to challenge lower-priced Android Phones. As you can see below, the Lumia 822 will be available in bright red, as well as white, black, and grey.

Verizon already carries the HTC 8X and HTC Trophy, but the addition of two new phones will (at the very least) provide new exposure to the Windows Phone platform.
