Reddit has grown into an Internet phemonenon — ‘the front page of the Web’ — but, like all startups, it had to begin somewhere and this fascinating 2005 video interview with founders Steve Huffman, Alexis Ohanian and Y Combinator’s Paul Graham (who provided mentoring and investment) fills in a lot of details about how it started and developed early on.

We already know that the idea for the site came from a discussion Graham had with the duo after they unsuccessfully pitched him a food ordering idea, but there’s more. The video — recorded by Reddit user ‘Boondoggle’ – is nearly 20 minutes long, but it is a worthwhile watch for fans of Reddit and anyone with a general interest in startup stories.
