, an online dating site for Russians kickstarted by Moscow-based startup incubator Fast Lane Ventures, has raised funding from Japanese investment firm United Managers Japan, the company announced this morning.

The size of the investment was not disclosed but brings total funding for to over $2 million. says it differs from traditional online dating sites because it focuses on ‘serious relationship seekers’ and helps them ‘build strong and harmonious relationships’.

The startup says it relies on scientific algorithms that can match singles by 17 characteristics, once they have undertaken a personality test developed by Russian psychologists and approved by The British Psychology Society.

First launched in December 2010, has attracted roughly 1 million customers to date; the site charges a monthly subscription fee.
