Google brings its Universal Analytics next-generation analytics platform out of beta

Google brings its Universal Analytics next-generation analytics platform out of beta

Google has announced the public release of Universal Analytics, its revamp of the Google Analytics platform for a multi-device world. Universal Analytics was first announced in October 2012 and released as a public beta in March 2013.

Universal Analytics now offers feature parity with the classic version of Google Analytics. The company is also gradually rolling out its User ID functionality, which tracks users anonymously across different devices and sessions.

The new platform includes three new types of tracking code (JavaScript, SDK and Measurement Protocol), additional configuration options and custom dimensions and metrics. Google also warns that only Universal Analytics users will receive new product changes, as Classic Google Analytics will not receive any updates.
