YouTube is up and down in various parts of the world. Users trying to reach the video portal are getting various errors, or are unable to reach the service at all.
My editor Martin Bryant got the following 502 error, before seeing the site again, and then getting the above error instead:
Refreshing like a madman sometimes gets me back to YouTube, though it doesn’t take long for the service to die again. DownRightNow is reporting a Likely Service Disruption:
A search on Twitter for “YouTube down” shows that users from all around the world are affected, and have been seeing issues for several hours. My colleague Jon Russell says he has had trouble with YouTube all morning and afternoon (UK time).
We have contacted Google about this issue. We will update this article if and when we hear back.
Update at 11:15AM EST: DownRightNow has updated YouTube’s status to “Recent Signs of Service Trouble.” It appears the service is starting to stabilize again.
Update at 12:00PM EST: Now we’re at “Possible Service Trouble.”
