Google’s big Monday Android event is off on account of the hurricane

Tech journalists and enthusiasts alike, please prepare to be less wet come Monday. No, the storm is still on the way, you just don’t have to trek out to the Google Android event that was scheduled. It has been called off on account of Hurricane Sandy.

According to a statement received by MarketingLand, Google directly fingered the foul weather as reason for the delay:

We are canceling our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more.

Microsoft will surely be more than content about this, as it has its own Windows Phone event on that day on the West Coast, here in San Francisco. There is mercifully no storm on this side of the country. Presumably, Google will reschedule this as soon as the rain stops. There is smartphone work to be done!
