Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone gets option to record voice messages, emoticons, and data savings

Facebook today updated its Facebook Messenger app for Windows Phone with two new features. You can download the new version now directly from the Windows Phone Store.

First up, the app now lets you record voice messages, which Facebook says has been “one of our most requested features.” The new version also lets you send emoticons, bringing it closer in line with its Android and iOS counterparts.

The update also brings “other improvements,” which typically means bug fixes and the like. Facebook did hint, however, that one of these will “help you save data,” meaning you can expect some optimizations regarding how much bandwidth the app uses.
