How To Web shines a Spotlight on some of Central and Eastern Europe’s brightest new startups

The team at How To Web do a great job of drawing international attention to the startups in their native Romania and the rest of Central and Eastern Europe. Their annual conference in Bucharest draws entrepreneurs, investors and press from across the continent and beyond to meet and share wisdom with the people driving innovation there.

This year will be no exception. How To Web 2012 will take place on 7 and 8 November, featuring speakers including Evernote CEO Phil Libin, Facebook research scientist Andrei Alexandrescu, SoundCloud’s VP of community David Noel, and more.

The startup competition will be bigger than ever, too. Focusing on Web and mobile startups with less than 2 years of activity, at least a working prototype that can be demonstrated on stage, and funding of no more than €100,000 ($129,160 USD), Startup Spotlight will feature 32 startups from the region.

Competing startups will receive mentoring sessions on product, business and technology and a day of private meetings with accelerator representatives and investors. There’s also a total of $20,000 in cash prizes up for grabs, along with vouchers and other gifts. The cash prizes are offered by IXIA, the How to Web conference’s main partner.

If you’re a Central or Eastern European startup that would like to apply for Startup Spotlight, head over to the competition’s website for details.

Meanwhile, tickets for How To Web 2012 are available now.
