Almost two years to the day since it brought its voice API services to Europe, Twilio has announced that it’s bringing international SMS to the European API mix too.
Twilio hosts a telephony infrastructure Web service for developers to integrate phone calls, text messages and IP voice communications into their phone applications. Now, Twilio is extending its international phone number inventory across seven European countries, and is now allowing the sending and receipt of SMS messages internationally using local numbers – as well as that of SMS short codes in the UK.
The beta program brings SMS to mobile and local phone numbers in the UK, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland, and Belgium, while SMS-enabled landline numbers are available for Spain.
