To whom it may concern: the European Commission has two interesting Brussels-based workshops lined up in the next few weeks that you might be interested in participating in.
Shining a light on Europe’s app economy
One is dubbed Eurapp and aims to ‘shape the future app economy in Europe’ – it will be held June 14, 2013 at one of the European Commission’s buildings in Auderghem, Brussels.
The main goal of the workshop is to inform attendees about the goals for the Eurapp project and describe how the EC will study the app economy in Europe and identify (and, one would hope, eventually remove) the key problems hindering its further growth.
Participants will include entrepreneurs like SwiftKey co-founder Ben Medlock and Tyba’s Eiso Kant but also folks representing the corporate side, including Microsoft evangelist Ruud de Jonge and Samsung Developer Relations Manager Cheng Luo.

Spending €100 million on SMEs and Web entrepreneurs
The other workshop the European Commission is organising is one where the forthcoming €100 million funding stream for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and Web entrepreneurs will be discussed.
It will be held on 2 July 2013 in Brussels as well.
Known as the third call of the Future Internet Public-Private Partnership (FI-PPP), the funding for SMEs and Web entrepreneurs will be used to develop new applications and services on top of ‘innovative technologies’.
Funding per SME or Web entrepreneur will typically be between 50.000 and 150.000 euros.
The event, part of the Startup Europe initiative of the Digital Agenda, will bring together accelerators, managers of co-working spaces, crowdfunding platforms, business angels, venture capitalists and company investment funds, to discuss the call in detail.
