With 23% of its now 6 million members across 24 EU countries, Fab appoints a ‘Chief European Officer’

Social shopping phenomenon Fab has given Maria Molland, previously its chief international officer, a new key role in the company. Today, the startup is announcing that Molland has been appointed ‘chief European officer’ and that she will hence lead Fab’s further expansion across the continent.

Fab is now live in 24 countries in the European Union, and it boasts over 100 employees there, with plans to grow the team to 150 by the end of 2012.

The company now has 6 million registered members in total, 1.4 million of which reside in Europe (a little over 23 percent). CEO Jason Goldberg says he expects Europe to contribute at least 20 percent of Fab’s 2012 revenue and plans to turn its European operations alone into a $100 million+ business in 2013.

Germany accounts for the large majority of its European sales (75 percent) but the company asserts that other markets are growing fast. Fab launched in the United Kingdom mid-June by acquiring London-based LLUSTRE, and already 10 percent of its European sales come from the UK.

Fab says 50 percent of its weekly sales in Europe are from repeat buyers, and intends to grow this to the same size as in the United States, where 67 percent of buyers are repeat offenders.

Molland previously worked for the Walt Disney Internet Group, Yahoo, Thomson Reuters, DN Capital and UK Trade & Investment.

She will be working out of Fab’s Berlin office. Joining her there are Roman Kirsch, formerly managing director of Fab.de and a co-founder of Casacanda (acquired
by Fab
in February 2012) and Tracy Doree, formerly managing director of Fab UK.

They will be heading European Marketing and Merchandising & Design, respectively.
