London’s TechHub Begins Expansion with New Base in Latvia

London’s TechHub Begins Expansion with New Base in Latvia

London’s TechHub, a co-working space for startups, has made a noticeable impact on the city’s tech scene since it opened last year. Now it’s expanding with a second base – not in any of the European cities you might expect (Berlin? Copenhagen? Amsterdam?), but in Riga, Latvia.

The formula for this new site will be the same as TechHub’s UK home. It will be a community gathering point and co-working venue (offering both permanent desks and drop-in space), as well as hosting events. It will occupy 4300 square feet (400 square metres) of open plan office space in the city centre.

The Latvian base will be run by experienced members of the local startup community in Riga; Andris Berzins, CEO and Founder of Amooz, Gunars Grundstoks, CEO of RentMama, Ernests Stals, CEO of Reach.ly and Viesturs Sosars, CEO of Real Sound Lab. As in London, it will be funded by a combination of membership fees and corporate sponsors.

As we’ve reported in the past, Eastern Europe has a fast-evolving startup scene which has challenges but also great opportunities. Bringing TechHub’s brand and facilities to the Baltic region is certainly a boost for this exciting part of the tech world.

TechHub’s expansion plans for the future include a presence in San Francisco.
