SurveyMonkey taps Mashery to launch fresh APIs, announces integration with Hootsuite

SurveyMonkey, a provider of online survey tools which is now pushing a valuation of over $1 billion, has teamed up with API management startup Mashery to launch a developer portal and new APIs. With this release, SurveryMonkey is also announcing it will be integrated into the HootSuite dashboard “later this quarter.”

As you’d expect, SurveryMonkey’s API allows developers to add surveying functionality into their applications. In HootSuite’s case, it’s not a stretch to suggest that it will soon be easier to create and share surveys across various social networks — not too distant from what polling startup Poptip is doing on Twitter.

Other use cases, according to SurveyMonkey, include “creating customer support alerts based on responses” and “generating a quick demographic snapshot of respondents.” It’s not exactly the sexiest of services, but is useful nonetheless.

Earlier SurveyMonkey partners include MailChimp, Eventbrite, GroSocial, ActiveCampaign, CleverReach and Mad Mimi. We’re betting some of these companies have plans to take advantage of the new APIs.

SurveyMonkey details that it has plans to add new methods to its API, like “a callback feature in the near future which will asynchronously notify applications of new survey responses as they come in.” If your interest is piqued, learn more via the link below.
