Appliya iPhone App Builder Makes App Creation Easy

Appliya iPhone App Builder Makes App Creation Easy

Appliya studioHave you ever wanted to create your own iPhone app but thought to yourself, ‘I don’t know how to program in Objective C and don’t want to spend the time to learn how’?

A Japanese iPhone developer named Appliya Studios might have an answer for you. They’ve created an App builder, where you can use your own photos from Flickr or if you don’t use Flickr it’s also possible to upload your photos to the app builder.

The app can be customized not only by displaying your own photos, but also choosing an icon for your app, as well as selecting screenshots and writing a brief description for the App Store. [Note, only photos on Flickr licensed under a Creative Commons License that gives permission for commercial use can be used in the applications.]

The web-based builder is easy to use, available in both english and Japanese, and is especially useful for photographers and artists that would like to make their work accessible in the App Store, but don’t want to spend a lot of time or money on it.

The App builder has a few different types of preset Apps to choose from including: an Image Viewer, Slide Puzzle Game, Pictter (that pulls in Twitter search results for a given keyword), a clock, and a Calendar. Each of which you can display your photos or artwork.

Appliya provides three different payment plans:

  1. It is free to create a Free application, and Appliya shares 10% of the revenues generated by ads on your application.
  2. For a paid application the fee is $599, and Appliya shares 40% of the revenues generated by sales of the application.
  3. If you wish to create a Free app without displaying ads the fee is $899.

The App Builder is a smart idea however there are a couple negative sides to having a huge number of apps created by it on the App Store.

When trying to find a specific app in the store, it makes it more difficult because there are already many calendars and clock apps from the company. Also if users create apps using cheesy or childish art work, it could reflect badly on Appliya since it’s published under Appliya’s name.

But if you’re looking for a way to publish your photos or artwork in an app for the iPhone, this is one pretty nice solution.

Appliya is a subsidiary company of Softbank, based in Tokyo, Japan. For more details check their website here, and their App Builder tool here.
