Momento is a must-have iMessage application for anyone who sends a lot of pictures

Momento is a must-have iMessage application for anyone who sends a lot of pictures

I have 6,569 photographs stored on my iPhone. The majority of these images are all of the same subject — my dog. They document his journey from a puppy to a fully grown four-year-old Tibetan Terrier. Unfortunately, my family has grown tiresome of the hordes of pictures I post in our iMessage group every time he does something cute.

However, I have a feeling that’s about to change as I’ve discovered a fantastic new application that merges images into GIFs to make them more fun and interactive. It’s called Momento and is available to download exclusively through the iMessage App Store.

Momento automatically generates GIFs from pictures that were taken in similar situations. The GIFs are stored in a grid that continuously rolls live previews, making it incredibly easy to pick out the best ones to send.

What’s particularly neat about Momento is that it doesn’t only generate GIFs for recent photographs. Instead, it scans through your entire camera library and creates motion images from any pictures it thinks were taken around the same time, at the same place.

I actually quite enjoy scrolling through the GIFs just to revisit old memories. On more than one occasion, I’ve discovered photos taken at events that have made me chuckle, and have sent them to other guests that were there so they can reminisce with me.

Momento is a great application that I feel anyone who sends a lot of images should have installed on their phone as it puts a unique twist on the viewing experience. It will set you back $1.99, though.
