Opera has been bringing its A-game to the browser wars of late, having recently introduced built-in adblocking and a free VPN service in its desktop browser.

It’s now updated its Mini browser for Android with integrated adblocking. The company says this allows for up to 40 percent faster page loads, as well as 14 percent less data consumed.

To enable it, find Opera Mini’s “O” menu, tap the data-savings summary and toggle “block ads” on. This feature works with both ‘high’ and ‘extreme’ data saving modes.

The new feature works well to shave a couple of seconds off load times and negates the need for third-party extensions, but for most sites, you’ll likely want to first try it with the ‘high’ data saving option enabled so they render correctly.
