CyberLink updates YouCam app for better performance, business tools and facial enhancements

With all the emphasis on mobile chat, it’s easy to forget the huge number of people who still engage in video conferencing the old fashioned way: right from their desks. And often, they need help looking their best and having the proper presentation tools for business meetings.

CyberLink has a long history in the webcam trade and today has released a new version of its YouCam app for Windows. In addition to new beauty tools, the app features recording enhancements, PowerPoint integration and real-time special effects.

High definition screen recording and support for dual webcams promise to make video creation easier. The desktop recording feature is capable of up to 30 fps and lets you capture the area around the mouse pointer, a specific portion of the screen or the entire desktop.

There’s also automatic adjustment of brightness, contrast and exposure, as well as manual controls for noise reduction and video sharpness.

The app lets users integrate an existing PowerPoint file into a video chat or recording and offers a variety of screen layouts and the ability to draw directly on presentation slides to highlight important messages.

New beauty tools let you enhance webcam output and use presets to adjust images. A real-time skin enhancer eliminates facial wrinkles during video recording and chats.

But that’s not all. YouCam 7 lets your webcam and PC function as a home security system, in time lapse or motion detection modes. A facial recognition feature can log you into Windows and other websites when you put your face in front of the camera.

The package also makes available some 200 face-tracking and animated video effects for webcam chat and video recording, with many more available for download at CyberLink’s Directorzone.com.

YouCam 7 is available today from the CyberLink online store in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese and Korean. Prices are as follows: YouCam 7 Deluxe, $44.95; YouCam 7 Standard, $34.95; and YouCam 7 Essential, free. Upgrades from previous versions of the product are available from $24.95.
