Rdio adds new sharing features and Songkick tour info integration

Music streaming service Rdio has today announced a raft of new features aimed at giving users new ways to share content, find new music and artists and book tickets for live gigs.

Among the sharing changes is the ability to tweet at the artist’s verified Twitter account automatically whenever you tweet a particular track – the idea here is that it gives users a sense of being able to engage with artists directly and gives musicians the chance to hear and respond to feedback, if they so wish. Another change is that if a friend shares music with you directly, you can now continue that conversation with a reply instead of just seeing a notification.

On the discovery side of things, there are now 20 stations of handpicked songs by record labels like Def Jam, Mute, Sub Pop, Domino and Warner Nashvill. There’s also a New Music Weekly section curated by the Rdio team, which does as its name suggests.

Rounding out the list of changes is integration with Songkick’s live concert platform – now users can get tour information directly on an artist’s profile page and can click through to buy tickets for any of the shows from Rdio.

The company said the new features would start rolling out from today.
