Uber aims for businesses with a new platform, while integrating with Concur for easy expensing

Uber aims for businesses with a new platform, while integrating with Concur for easy expensing

Uber revealed today that it is doubling down on enterprise customers as it took the wraps off a business-tier offering ‘Uber for Business,’ alongside the announcement of a partnership with business travel and expenses company Concur.

The Uber for Business page is up and running now, while the private car-for-hire service has been integrated with Concur to “make expensing ground transportation as effortless as requesting an Uber ride.”

This means that employees at companies using Concur for expense management are able to connect and sync their Concur and Uber accounts. Once you have selected the option to do so, Uber will automatically send e-receipts and trip information into the Concur system.

Switching to paying for a personal trip is also easy — you just need to turn the Concur connection on or off in the payment selector screen.

The Concur partnership is “just one way” that companies can now tap on the convenience of Uber’s business-tier offering. As TechCrunch reported, Uber for Business will have a dashboard for managers to invite employees into a shared payment account for rides made via the service. Uber also noted that the business platform will show information about key metrics including the number of trips and the total amount spent on travel weekly, month and annually.

Uber said a number of companies have already been piloting Uber for Business — including Tesla, which gives customers Uber rides while their vehicle is being serviced, as well as online shopping site Gilt, which uses Uber to transport models to and fro fashion shoots.

The sharing economy seems to be entering into a new source of monetization as enterprises are picking up on such services. Uber’s move comes after Airbnb also just announced a partnership with Concur to allow users to book properties directly through the Concur TripLink service, making it easier for companies to use the accommodation-booking service.
