Product Hunt’s first custom leaderboard lets you help rank the teams at today’s 500 Startups demo day

Product Hunt’s first custom leaderboard lets you help rank the teams at today’s 500 Startups demo day

Product Hunt, a kind of ‘Hacker News for products’, has taken the startup world by storm over the past few months. While at its heart it’s focused on a daily contest in which users vote up and discuss their favorite new products, today it’s being used in a more timely fashion to highlight the startups presenting at 500 Startups‘ demo day in Mountain View.

There’s nothing special in terms of features here, just a chance for the teams to compete not just for the attention of press and investors at the demo day itself, but also for upvotes from the public wherever they may be. Although this is a minor step in terms of product development, it shows how Product Hunt could evolve its business case – and that’s something it needs to do. After all, it is on Y Combinator’s current program.
