YouTube app finally headed for Nintendo 3DS, upgrade on the way for Wii U version

YouTube app finally headed for Nintendo 3DS, upgrade on the way for Wii U version

Nintendo has revealed that it will be launching a YouTube app for the Nintendo 3DS later this month.

Announced today during the company’s Nintendo Direct press conference, the Japanese console maker said users would be able to watch videos on the upper screen while selecting and searching for others using the lower one. As part of the system update, the 3DS will also gain Nintendo Network ID (NNID) compatibility, Miiverse and a combined store balance between the Wii U and 3DS.

For a console released at the start of 2011, Nintendo certainly has taken its sweet time in getting the world’s most popular video sharing site on the platform.

Wii U owners needn’t feel left out though, Nintendo also revealed that an updated version of the YouTube app would be making its way across to the HD-capable machine.
