Readmill has rolled out an update to its iOS app, letting readers view highlights from the broader community, make comments, and discuss passages without leaving the actual book.
We first covered Readmill way back in 2011, noting that it made e-books more social with a beautiful Last.fm-style app for reading.
The new community highlights view builds on what Readmill has been doing for the past couple of years, with users jotting in the margins of their ebooks and sharing them across the Web to encourage discussion. Now this is enabled directly within the book itself.
The latest update also brings in simple highlighting, which lets readers press and drag their finger along the text they wish to highlight, Pinterest sharing, the ability to import books directly from Dropbox, and a handful of other iterations.
