MTV has launched a new iPhone app in the US, designed to help music fans find out more about their favorite music and artists.
MTV Artists serves up three key functions – first up, it offers a Shazam-style music ID service that identifies music playing in the background to tell you what it is, while lyric search lets you find a song based on just a few catchy words that are stuck in your head.
Over and above this, the app also wants to be your hub for learning more about artists, including when they’re playing live and how to procure tickets. And it will also deliver exclusive content directly from artists and MTV itself, including videos and new music.

MTV Artists is available to download for free now in the US App Store.
