Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic lands on the iPad for $9.99

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the role-playing video game originally developed by BioWare in 2003, is now available on the iPad.

The port was handled by Aspyr Media, who also did the original Mac port, and gives players the chance to replay the critically acclaimed title with revamped touch screen controls. The game is at least a decade old, so it’s a far cry from BioWare’s recent work on the Mass Effect franchise, but a review published by IGN today says it still stands up on a second playthrough.

Another conference. “Great.”

This one’s different, trust us. Our new event for New York is focused on quality, not quantity.

The Star Wars franchise has experienced many, many lows, but both Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords are considered to be some of the best video game interpretations.

The iPad port is available for $9.99 in the App Store and requires at least the iPad 2, as well as 2.5GB of storage space to run.

Just in case you’ve forgotten what the game was all about, or need a helping hand to get excited about it again, we’ve dropped the original E3 trailer below, courtesy of Machinima:
