Nokia updates its Cinemagraph Windows Phone lense app to finally add social sharing

Nokia updates its Cinemagraph Windows Phone lense app to finally add social sharing

When we reviewed the Nokia 920, one of the oddities we noticed in one of Nokia’s apps was the lack of a dedicated social sharing feature for its Cinemagraph lense. Nokia told us the feature was coming, and today it has pushed live an update that enables the sharing of Cinemagraph creations to Facebook, Twitter, email or messaging.

If you don’t know, Nokia’s Cinemagraph lense is an app that allows users to capture a moving image that can then be edited to animate only parts of it. It’s an animated GIF with a bit more style.

Cinemagraph version 2.5.0.21 now includes a new ‘Share’ menu option offers sharing via Facebook and Twitter, email or messaging. The app doesn’t upload them directly to the service — storing them on Nokia’s servers because they don’t support the “animated format used for the files.”

Testing the upload feature, we were able to download a copy and the downloaded image file weighed in at 10MB. The file itself is uploaded to Nokia’s Memories portal, allowing Twitter, Facebook and other users to visit the site and view your image.

As you can see, Nokia uses Twitter’s Cards feature to display a preview of the image:

If you’ve been enjoying the Cinemagraph app before today, it just got a whole lot more useful. To get the new feature, update the app in the Windows Phone Store or use the link below to download it.
